Agent code of conduct

The University of the Fraser Valley (UFV) is committed to maintaining high ethical standards in student recruitment. This Code of Conduct outlines the expectations and responsibilities of UFV’s recruitment representatives worldwide.


This Code of Conduct establishes the ethical and professional standards that recruitment representatives must follow when promoting UFV’s programs to prospective students.

Professional Standards

All recruitment representatives must:

  • Represent UFV accurately and ethically, providing truthful information about programs, tuition fees, and admission requirements.

  • Adhere to UFV’s application deadlines and ensure that all submitted applications are complete and truthful.

  • Maintain compliance with UFV policies and local regulations governing recruitment practices.

  • Refrain from making false promises or guarantees regarding admission, visas, or job placements.

  • Obtain UFV’s express written permission before using UFV’s name, logo, or promotional materials.

Student-Centered Approach

Recruitment representatives are expected to:

  • Act in the best interests of students, ensuring they make informed decisions about studying at UFV.

  • Provide accurate guidance on UFV’s admission requirements and academic expectations.

  • Support students in the application process while respecting their privacy and personal data.

UFV’s Commitment to Recruitment Representatives

UFV will:

  • Recognize recruitment representatives as non-exclusive partners.

  • Provide up-to-date marketing and admissions materials.

  • Assess applications fairly and issue admission offers at UFV’s discretion.

  • Pay commission fees based on successfully enrolled students, subject to UFV’s policies:

    • Commission rate will be determined before any students are referred.

    • Commission will be based on tuition fees for up to two consecutive semesters.

    • No commission is paid for students who withdraw and/or receive a refund.

Compliance & Privacy Protection

Recruitment representatives must:

  • Adhere to British Columbia’s Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA).

  • Not share or store student information outside Canada without UFV’s written approval.

  • Maintain confidentiality and follow UFV’s data security standards.

Termination & Accountability

  • UFV may terminate the partnership if a recruitment representative fails to meet ethical or performance standards.

  • Either party may terminate the agreement with 30 days’ written notice.

  • Upon termination, the representative must cease using UFV branding and return all UFV materials.

  • Representatives must indemnify UFV against any legal claims arising from their recruitment activities.
